Think Computer Products, a launch partner for the AMD Opteron processor, debuted the latest ThinkTank Q Series servers, workstations and clusters featuring the power of the newly released AMD Opteron processors.
The ThinkTank Q-Cluster Base DP64, 1U and 2U versions each feature the power of dual AMD Opteron processors 200 Series with HyperTransport technology-based high-performance computing solutions. Each of the rackmount models features IPMI compliant remote monitoring and alert notification and fault tolerant power, cooling and storage. The additional expansion capabilities of the 2U provides for flexibility and integration within heterogeneous hardware environments, such as storage area networks and test monitoring platforms. The company further announced that several other designs utilizing AMD Opteron processors, including 4U and pedestal based solutions, are expected to begin shipping in Q2 2003.
Each of the ThinkTank Q Series platforms is customized according to customer preference. The company provides rapid-fulfillment of all ThinkTank based solutions, built in their ISO 9002 Quality Certified facilities.
The ThinkTank Q Series platforms are designed primarily for streaming data monitoring/analysis/response, digital image processing, rapid prototyping, real world modeling/analysis, digital film compositing, video effects and rendering applications. The high-performance systems are well suited for the needs of government, science, finance, medicine, entertainment and security industries. The company believes that the new solutions should also help pave the way for small and mid-size businesses to enter the world of quality-built, affordable high-performance cluster computing.
"After extensive testing of the AMD Opteron processor-based ThinkTank Q Series platforms, we're convinced they're going to change the face of the industry," comments Bill Hojreh, president of Think Computer Products. "We've never seen computing technology with price/performance ratios as promising as this -- it's a genuine revolution -- a milestone in the next generation of a dynamic computing era."
"The AMD Opteron processor provides a substantial performance increase and gives customers the option of migrating to a 64-bit computing environment at their desired pace," said Ben Williams, director, AMD's Server/Workstation Business Segment. "Combined with Think's customizable solutions, the AMD64 architecture offers exceptional flexibility, performance, and scalability."
